Headteachers across Scotland have more learning and development opportunities than ever, thanks to an enhanced leadership support package developed by Education Scotland.
Education Scotland launched the package which includes a range of new and existing development opportunities for headteachers who want to enhance their professional and leadership skills.
More than 50 professional learning sessions will be offered as part of the highly successful Excellence in Headship programme, to enable almost 500 headteachers to share experience and learning on core themes, underpinned by the needs of pupils.
This enhanced support package also includes programmes and focused learning opportunities to support teacher and middle leadership.
Education Scotland Chief Executive Gayle Gorman said: “Education Scotland has listened to teachers tell us what they want out of professional learning, and their feedback has helped to evolve existing programmes.
“We now offer more opportunities to support professional resilience and health and wellbeing, while also exploring how individual teachers can develop and enhance the knowledge, skills and expertise that they need to lead.
“In addition, we’ve worked collaboratively with headteachers, local authorities and national organisations to develop two new Leading Systems Change and Evolving Systems Thinking programmes to ensure alignment of school and system leadership.
“Ultimately we want to see all headteachers being empowered to take the lead in learning and teaching – in turn empowering the learning community and ensuring the best use of each school’s resources.”
Excellence in Headship induction opportunities for the 2019/20 programme are taking place across Scotland on the following dates:
|2-3 September 2019||Malmaison Dundee|
